Nurturing Confidence in the Water
Turtle Swimming Lessons
What are Turtles?
- Aged 2 – 3years old
- Can swim without Mom or Dad
- Group class of 3
The Turtle Is not a new beginner student class. It is a skill based class. Toddlers between the age of 2 and 3 graduate into this class from Duck, Goldfish or Tadpole levels. Turtles must be able to follow instruction and are fine to be separated from their parent. This is our first independent skill based class. Turtle toddler swimming lessons are designed to help young children transition into more independent swimming while still keeping the experience fun, engaging, and supportive.
Each class includes a variety of songs, games, and interactive activities that make learning to swim enjoyable while reinforcing water confidence. These lessons also provide a wonderful opportunity for bonding, allowing children to feel safe and supported as they continue building their comfort and familiarity in the water. During the lesson, children begin developing stronger swimming movements through guided practice using noodles and kickboards. These tools help toddlers learn how to kick and paddle effectively while improving coordination, balance, and body awareness in the water. Instructors focus on building unassisted mobility and buoyancy skills so children gradually learn to move more independently while maintaining proper floating and kicking techniques.
The Turtle class serves as the natural progression from the Goldfish level and is intentionally kept small, with a maximum of four children per class to ensure each swimmer receives focused attention and encouragement. A strong emphasis is placed on independent swimming to help children build confidence and develop foundational skills. By the end of the Turtle level, children are well prepared to advance to the Crab class, which introduces the first Teacher and Child beginner-level lessons and continues building stronger swimming abilities.
