Goldfish swimming lessons build on the confidence and foundational skills developed in earlier swim levels while continuing to keep the experience fun and engaging for both parents and children. Classes include plenty of songs and playful activities designed to make learning to swim enjoyable while reinforcing comfort and confidence in the water. At this stage, children begin extending their breath control, submersion skills, and independent movement through familiar activities such as dolphins and Humpty Dumpty.
During the lesson, children work on developing stronger kicking and reaching movements using toys like balls to encourage coordination and purposeful movement through the water. These activities help improve mobility and body awareness while strengthening buoyancy skills. Instructors guide children through exercises that include kicking, paddling, and supported floating so they can better understand how their bodies move and stay balanced in the water.
As children gain confidence and strength, lessons focus on encouraging greater independence in the water. Building on their natural buoyancy, children begin practicing more independent floating and movement with the support of a parent or instructor. The goal of the Goldfish level is to prepare young swimmers for the next stage of development, with the aim of having children ready to move into the Turtle class by the age of two, where they will continue building more advanced swimming abilities and water confidence.
