Nurturing Confidence in the Water
Duck Swimming Lessons
What are Ducks?
- Aged 10 months – 2 years old
- Swimming babies bonding with Mom or Dad in the water each lesson
- Group class of 4 to 6 with no prior skills required
Duck swimming lessons are designed to introduce babies to the water in a fun, supportive, and confidence-building environment. Each class incorporates playful songs and engaging activities that help both parents and babies feel comfortable while learning essential water skills together. The focus at this stage is helping babies develop trust in the water while gradually building confidence through guided movements, gentle submersion activities, and playful exercises.
Throughout the lesson, babies begin learning foundational swimming skills such as breath control and submerging through games like dolphins, Humpty Dumpty, and jelly on the plate. These activities help develop early breath awareness while keeping the experience enjoyable and stress-free. At the same time, instructors work on mobility and buoyancy by encouraging kicking, paddling, and supported floating, helping babies understand how their bodies move and float naturally in the water.
As babies grow stronger and more comfortable in the pool, lessons gradually encourage more independent movement. Using their natural buoyancy as a foundation, babies practice floating with parental support while developing kicking and paddling skills. The goal of Duck swimming lessons is to build the confidence and coordination needed for independent swimming, preparing children to comfortably kick, paddle, and submerge as they progress to the next level of swim instruction.
